The Rockhampton Cycling Club is affiliated with Auscycling and as such you can obtain a short term licence through Auscycling here . You can purchase several options of racing licence such as a 1 day event or 7 day event licence or perhaps your still not sure and might need more time to "suck it an see" then the best option for you is the 4 week free trial membership
There is still the option of a full race licence if you are committing to the sport.
It is best if the licencing is done prior to race day as in rural areas the internet access is not reliable. Bring along your electronic proof of purchase and say hello at the registration desk; tell them your you’re new - they will sort out grades etc.
Bring a suitable bicycle and an Australian Std helmet (legal requirement for road cycling - be wary of online purchases from overseas).
Club Bike Hire
If you wish to continue to use a club bike after the Come & Try sessions there is a Club hire policy and agreement. Track Bikes can be hired for the first 12 months for $50 (non-refundable). They must be kept in a bike room at the track unless you are travelling away for a competition. The club will endeavour to provide a bike that is in very good condition upon hire. All consumables during the hire period are to your expense (eg. Tubes, tyres etc). If you are interested in hiring a track bike please let the Equipment Officer know and they will forward you the policy and agreement to complete along with the club’s bank details to deposit the money.
When can I start Racing?
When you commence competition racing will depend on how quickly you progress with riding, track and racing skills. The Coach will give you guidance on when you should start club racing on a Friday night and is almost always there on the Racing nights to help riders and families.
Junior Gear Restrictions
Gear restrictions apply to all junior cyclists in events conducted under Auscycling regulations on the road and track. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that their children’s bikes apply with this ruling.
The restrictions referred to is the distance one revolution of the crank arm will propel the bicycle, this is known as the ‘roll out’.
The gear restrictions apply to each of the following member categories:
• Junior Under 19 and above = 7.93 Metres
• Junior Under 17 = 7.00 metres
• Junior Under 15 = 6.00 metres
• Junior Under 13 = 5.50 metres
• Junior Under 11 = 5.50 metres
Please note that all competitors are required to satisfy a roll out for all junior events. These restrictions may be changed at the discretion of AusCycling so it is always good to check before the start of a new season.
